When choosing a lamp it is very important to know the colour temperature. What does the colour temperature mean? In today’s article we explain what it is and how to choose the most suitable one for your environment.

The color temperature is measured in Kelvin and refers to the different shades of light. There are several types of light depending on its temperature:

Warm light: It is a yellow light with a colour temperature below 3,300K. They are associated with sunlight and fire.

Day or neutral light: Between 3,300K and 5,000

Cold light: Most fluorescent tubes are at 6,500K, but the range is between 5,000K to 6,500K. It is a whiter light.

Which is the most suitable temperature for each room?

The warm light provides us feelings of well-being, it helps us to relax, that is why it is advisable to use this type of light in environments designed to rest (such as our bedroom or the living room). It also works very well in jewelry halls and exhibitions. With this light we highlight the brownish tones of the furniture.

Cold light stimulates our senses, keeps us alert and awake. It is recommended in offices, study areas, etc. Its use is recommended in places where you are going to do an activity that requires us to be alert. With this light we highlight the green and blue colors.

Finally, the neutral light is used in relaxed environments but with a more active and fashionable touch.

The light must always be soft, so we will avoid the glare or lack of light in some points. If we aim to illuminate a large work area it is recommended to use individual points of light that allow us to save energy while conserving comfort.
